The tale of the doughnut thief

Ok, so you might have thought I got swallowed by a whale or something worse but, “deep breath”, I am alive and kicking. Since I have been MIA for the past, lets see, 4 months I will give you a quick update.

  1. got married
  2. moved
  3. became an offical nurse
  4. started my job at a Hospital

So yeah been sorta busy. So working with kidos gives me lots of good material for here. Now of course I could never use names. So the names and faces have been changed to protect the innocent. Now, as you would expect I am coming to the part where the title plays into my story. Once upon a time in a land not so far away I was taking care of a child who had an amazing ability to eat and never be full. When I woke him up in the morning he asked me for pudding that second. And asked me for a 2nd pudding as he finished his last bite on the first. We ordered his breakfast and he called me to his room, or I found him wander pantsless in the hall about every 7-19 minutes asking when his breakfast was coming. Then when it was time for morning play time he went with one of our staff downstairs to the lobby. This child had a tendency for wandering and found himself at the doughnut table. After a full breakfast, about 2 puddings and a snack he decided he was still hungry and impressivly swiped 2 doughnuts from the stands and managed to shove them in his mouth without anyone being able to stop him. How amazing really. So yeah, that is just one of my tales of wonder from this fantastic hospital. Tune in next week to hear more about what is going on. And yeah, be cool stay in school. Word.

Light Box

After allot of blood sweat and tears the light box is finally up and running. Most of the credit goes out to my dad (Chris Shore) he is the one that really helped me out building it (he has all the cool tools).

So what the heck is a light box? Well I’m glad you asked, it’s my new project my new idea of worship art. It all started with a video of Ferenc Cako I found on the Internet I don’t really remember how I found it but as soon as I saw it I was blown away. Cako calls his work “Sand Animation” he tells a story with a light box and sand. What he does is he has a light box that is made of fluorescent lights inside a box with a piece of frosted glass or frosted Plexiglas on top of the box. Then on top of the glass he uses sand to draw/animate his movie. In order to show the images/animation to his audience he has a video camera mounted above the light box that tapes his every move and that video feed is displayed on a large screen via a projector.

I am embarking on a new frontier that I know of only one other person that is currently doing. It is always an adventure when your on the bleeding edge.

Not Just A Number

Saturday, October 15th, 2005

Chicago FaceAt purdue it seemed with every class and every grade came a number. Wither it was your student id your or SSN you were very rarely referred to by your name. No one cared to know your name they just cared to know your number. Sometimes that can be a GREAT thing but in real life everyone wants to be known. At least I want people to know me not my number but my actions and personality. That may never happen but one thing I know that is true is that Jesus knows my name he knows me not only by my number but also by the number of hairs on my head

“He pays even greater attention to you, down to the last detail–even numbering the hairs on your head! ”

Matthew 10:30 (The Message)

Its such a blessing to know that even though my Neighbors, Coworkers, Strangers on the Street may not know who I really am but God does and he even desires to know me more.
