Comings and goings
Thursday, April 27th, 2006Have you ever felt that your life was just a bunch of comings and going? Almost like a reprogramable stop watch. The times and letter on the calendar tell me when I can start this and when I will stop this. We view life as a bunch of starts and stops of activities. We are driving a car that continually backfires. Perhaps it is not about starts and stops but more about being. After all we are human-beings not human-doings. Just a little reminder to myself that life does happen outside of the calendar. Infact that is life.

I thought this was fitting forĀ Illustration Friday “Robot” givin how much we have been painting lately.
Painting
Friday, April 21st, 2006So the construction continues on the new house. We have successfully ripped out all the old carpet and flooring. We removed the cabinets and other debris. The demolition is mostly complete. We are now concentrated on the walls. We are painting the 2nd bedroom a granny smith apple green. Our master bedroom is going to be 3 walls golden brown, and 1 wall deep spanish red. So painting is making my arms buff due to the 9 foot ceilings. It seems sometimes that I paint myself more than the walls but it all evens out. Peace
The joy of home ownership
Tuesday, April 18th, 2006Lets see, so we bought out first home this past Friday! (Cheering). We have been working on this for the last 3 months or so, and we are very excited. We went over there Friday night just to check out the house some more and get to know it a little better. A bad storm rolled in later that night while we were still there. The weather station reported a tornado touchdown nearby and winds around 100 mph. We headed proudly to out new basement to weather the storm and wait. I would have been hyperventilating and sitting in the bathtub of our apartment. Not fun. So the storm was fine. We heard a couple of loud noises but no damage was done to us or the house. At the end of the evening we were preparing to leave and pull out of the driveway. We shined our headlights on one of the huge trees we have in our front yard. Much to our surprise a limb as big as a small tree had fallen of during the strorm. I mean I have never seen a limb this big. We were like, “you have got to be kidding me, on our first night of owning a home a tree the size of a giant fell.” We were a little discouraged to say the least that the tree would mark our first 6 hours of homeownership in the negative. Thats okay though. The good thing is that we are fine and so is the house. The town of Danville actaully came out the next down and cut up the branches with a chainsaw so all is well. What a crazy welcome to home ownership.

So after like 10 months of silence I am back. I apologize for the absence. I dont have a good excuse really but we can pretend I got kidnapped by bears or aliens or something. Anyway, this is a super cool entry because I am now offically an Aunt!!! (The crowd cheers). Yes, its true. Auntie Rachel met Jack Tyler Murray for the first time. He is 10 days old and cute as can be. He sleeps alot but hey its a good life. Yeah for babies and yeah for new starts. I wish him all of God’s blessings.

Stay tuned for future updates, they include job, car troubles, a new home and lots of other stuff. Intrigued yet?
