Super Stars

Monday, April 30th, 2007

This past week I had the joy of watching my younger sister, Aimie, sing at a U Indy choir concert. She is a music performance/music ed double major. (I think so) Her choir did its final concert fro the semester with familiar songs and with a jazz band and boy did they go out with style. Needless to say she is amazing! I mean I always knew that but watching and listening to her confirms it anew. Also, Chris, who is her special friend (I think I’m allowed to say that) is in the choir too and he is excellent as well. The duet they shared was over the top! Superstars, and nothing less. Below are some pictures of the concert. They looked and sounds great. Way to go sis! I love you.

Happy Birthday Grandma Shore

Tuesday, April 24th, 2007

We had a great (early) birthday dinner for Grandma Shore celebrating her 80th b-day. Congratulations! We had a fantastic time which included good conversation, mashed potatoes, fried chicken to spare and yummy ice cream with lots of toppings. (Jason’s dad, Chris, maxed out his ice cream (as shown below). We weren’t surprised though, he has always been special. Happy Birthday Grandma Shore. We love you!

Moses hearts milkshakes

Saturday, April 21st, 2007

It turns out that Moses really likes milkshakes. Which isn’t really a huge surprise seeing that he also likes socks. Go figure. What’s cool though is that it was really cold so he kept doing a funky thing with his tongue and Jason got a picture of it.

Doggie play date

Monday, April 16th, 2007

Yesterday, we thought it would be fun to call our friends Megan and Justin and see if they wanted to meet us with their dog Luca for a doggie play date with Moses. We took a trip to the park in search of an empty fenced in baseball diamond where they could run together. It turns out that Danville locks all of the ball diamonds and tennis courts on Sunday. After about 15 mins of driving and searching we hit the jackpot and found a diamond where the lock wasn’t fastened ! A sweet lesson in perseverance. They had a great time running. Luca was more interested in wrestling than running but Moses enjoyed running away from Luca and chasing the ball.

The Progression of a chalk art

Wednesday, April 11th, 2007

Most of my themed chalk arts don’t appear out of thin air. They have a progression. First, I come up with an idea and a “rough draft” of sorts. I start with a theme for example: Easter. I pray, research and brain storm what the theme [Easter] means both in scripture and to the people around me [Example: New life, cross, empty tomb, sin, forgiveness, Jesus, fresh, colorful, pastels, white dresses...]. Then I try to put those thoughts into a visual explanation or picture. With this chalk art I started off with a focus on new life, colorful, pastels… hence the flowers and pink.

Then I re-work that idea . . .

and re-work that idea . . .

At some point I have to say that it is worthy, But the more time and iterations of each work of art the more refined it becomes. With this in mind worship art takes on a learning experience for me. Each iterations reminds me of how every day with time Christ is refining me.

And you can’t forget my supporting staff who helped me with feedback.

Homemade Ravioli’s

Monday, April 9th, 2007

Tonight I decided to be crazy and make homemade ravioli. Its shocking 1 because its a lot of effort and 2 I don’t have the best history with the pasta. When I was 12 I ate a whole family size can and promptly barfed it because of course my stomach was way too small. Anyway, tonight’s went much better and there was no aftermath. I used my “Everyday Italian” cookbook which I love and would recommend to everyone. Enjoy the pictures!
