Camp Indi-Co-So

Wednesday, July 25th, 2007

Last week Jason and I spent the week being counselors at a high school sports church camp. When we tell some people  they think we are a little crazy to choose to spend our vacation camping with hormonal high schoolers and bugs. But really the week was fantastic because we all shared  a like minded focus to glorify our great God and to help bring youth closer to Him. God never fails to draw near to us when we draw near to him. It was a great week of sports, devotions, worship and just hanging out. We loved all the campers and all our fellow counselors. We will miss them all very much until next year. Below there are a few snap shots of the week.  Also you can check out the whole 700+ pictures because J-mac set up a photo page (he is our awesome computer guy - thanks J-mac) http://www.flickr.com/photos/jrmcintosh/

Dodgeball with deflated volleyballs can be dangerous. Just ask Lisa - she got nailed in the face. Ouch! Jason didn’t hit anyone in the face though.

One of the amazing things about camp is how beautiful it is.

My dog is a con-artist

Monday, July 23rd, 2007

The other morning when Jason and I were both exhausted Moses came and woke me up by licking my hand. The clock said 7:34 am and I immediately felt bad for our retired racer as he usually eats between 6-7 am. I wondered for a second if Jason had already fed him as it was late in the morning and Moses isn’t usually patient. But Jason was sound asleep and I hadn’t heard him get up and feed Moses so I figured our dog had graciously let us sleep in. I let Moses out and realized the top lock wasn’t locked but again reasoned it away as a fluke. I feed Moses and went back to bed. Jason and I woke up later around 10 and out of curiosity I asked him if he had fed Moses. I was expecting a no, and then a “thank you” since I had let him sleep in. When Jason answered “yes” I tried to explain that no he had fed him yesterday and was confused because he was sleepy. After thinking though Jason explained that Moses had woken him up around 7:20 by licking his hand. Jason had then let him out (unlocking the bottom lock) and fed Moses. That’s the point when we realized our dog had totally played us. Moses waited until Jason was back asleep to then wake me up so I would feed him. We figured that we were both so tired we didn’t hear the other one get up. I was totally cracking up once I realized what had happened. I guess Moses isn’t as dumb as we though he was- or maybe he’s just lucky.

IMA

Friday, July 13th, 2007

This past Tuesday I went to the Indianapolis Art Museum (IMA - http://www.ima-art.org/ ) with my Momma, sister and Grandma C. We had tons of fun eating at the best restaurant ever-Pucks and then touring the museum. One of the special displays included a collection of dresses designed by Christian Dior. The dresses basically danced on display, beautiful. The best thing about the IMA is that it is free and lunch at Puck’s is really affordable! Here are some pics of my amazing family- by far the best part of the day.

The Call - Rachel’s perspective

Thursday, July 12th, 2007

This will be the first of many posts about The Call.  It was this past weekend on 07/07/07 in Nashville, TN. Over 55,000 people who love Jesus showed up to stand in the gap for the nation. The Call is based out of the bible passage Joel 2 which calls for united, massive, fasting and praying. We prayed, worshiped and fasted for 12 hours to repent as a nation that has turned from God in trust that God would hear us send revival to America. It would be impossible to explain  the weekend in totality in one post. I encourage you to go to the official website: http://thecall.com for all the details. This post is mainly to explain what I experienced and felt.

The Call was amazing, exhausting and such a blessing. It was a reassurance that God does move in the land when his people, pure before him, call out the desires of his heart earnestly for Him to move in revival and restoration. How glorious! It was 12 hours of repentance, worship, intercession and re-covenanting ourselves to God. The spirit among us was vivid and moving. People were lifting their hands, solemnly still, praising with dancing, weeping with heavy hearts and crying out with shouts to our Mighty God. The God we were proclaiming and serving was present to hear his people.

Perhaps, never before had I felt so effective and purposeful knowing the spiritual work we were laying was changing the nation. Powerful yet absolutely humbling and frightening. It was a place like none other I had been before, but it was good.

There are going to be more “Call’s” across the nation coming soon. I encourage you to check it out and see how God is moving. If you have any questions or want to hear more please email or talk to us. Blessings.

Hershey’s new home

Sunday, July 8th, 2007

We had a couple people ask so I though I would update the blog and let everyone know that our foster dog Hershey found her forever home on the 4th of July. Though we were a little sad to see her go we are super excited for her to start her retired life with her new family. Bye sweet girl!
