My dog is a con-artist

The other morning when Jason and I were both exhausted Moses came and woke me up by licking my hand. The clock said 7:34 am and I immediately felt bad for our retired racer as he usually eats between 6-7 am. I wondered for a second if Jason had already fed him as it was late in the morning and Moses isn’t usually patient. But Jason was sound asleep and I hadn’t heard him get up and feed Moses so I figured our dog had graciously let us sleep in. I let Moses out and realized the top lock wasn’t locked but again reasoned it away as a fluke. I feed Moses and went back to bed. Jason and I woke up later around 10 and out of curiosity I asked him if he had fed Moses. I was expecting a no, and then a “thank you” since I had let him sleep in. When Jason answered “yes” I tried to explain that no he had fed him yesterday and was confused because he was sleepy. After thinking though Jason explained that Moses had woken him up around 7:20 by licking his hand. Jason had then let him out (unlocking the bottom lock) and fed Moses. That’s the point when we realized our dog had totally played us. Moses waited until Jason was back asleep to then wake me up so I would feed him. We figured that we were both so tired we didn’t hear the other one get up. I was totally cracking up once I realized what had happened. I guess Moses isn’t as dumb as we though he was- or maybe he’s just lucky.
