Thanksgiving 2007

Friday, November 23rd, 2007

This year for Thanksgiving we went over to my (Rachel’s) Mom & Dad’s house. Jason fried the turkey for the 2nd year in a row and it turned out great! We enjoyed many wonderful side dishes as well as homemade desserts. It was a lot of fun to gather with family, eat, and relax. After dinner we watched the Colts beat the Falcon’s. Go team.

Thanks to everyone for making yesterday a really fun and special day. We love you all! PB220631.JPG

Sugar Plum

Sunday, November 18th, 2007

We are fostering again! Meet miss Jawa Sugar Plum. Sugar for short. She is a red-fawn color, almost 2 year old rescued greyhound from Daytona Beach. She raced under a year and was retired because she was “very slow”. We think she is pretty cool though. She has already warmed up to us. She greets us in the morning with a wildly wagging tail, kisses and much excitement. She likes to chase Moses, eat and play with toys. What a sweetie.

Her ears are so cute folded over like a bow.

Fresh of the track. Look at that those muscles.

This is her sweet ride from Florida. They leave Florida at 7 pm Fri night and arrive in Indy at 11 am tired, hungry and full of energy.

First bath of retirement. Aww, nice and clean.

Yes, its what you think. She is gnawing on her leg. Crazy dog.

Jack is so cute

Saturday, November 17th, 2007

Jason went to the Purdue vs Michigan State game last Sat. The only good thing about the game was the food and the company. Jason especially enjoyed hanging out with Jack, his 1 1/2 year old cousin.

Here are some irresistible pictures.

Dog treats for dinner

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

You know were this is going don’t you; another misadventure of living with our sweet dog Moses.

We keep his treats on the lower shelf of our pantry in the kitchen. He usually gets one before we leave the house for laying down and not rushing out the door with us. The other day I must have been in a hurry and left the door to the pantry slightly cracked. When I came home I felt a lot of crumbs on the floor but hadn’t vacuumed yet that day so shrugged it off.

When I went to feed Moses later he took about 2 bites, looked at me and walked away. I was shocked. But we are trying to wean him to completely dry food which is harder to eat. When we tried before he did the same thing. So, I let it go. When Jason came home I mentioned that Moses had been leaving a lot of crumbs from his bones and suggested that we only give him half for now on (less crunching). He agreed and said he would break them in half while I finished making dinner.

Much to his surprise the bag that had been nearly full that morning was open and had only 3 or 4 bones left. Whoops. I guess all the crumbs were from Moses eating the whole bag. The funny part was that the pantry was closed and the bag hadn’t moved. Smooth Moses, you almost got away with it.

Trunk or Treat and Pumpkin Carving

Monday, November 12th, 2007

For Halloween our small group went to the church parking lot and set up our own “trunk or treating” station. We decided to dress up like Colts fans tail-gaiting- not a far stretch. It was a fun evening. The night before we had a pumpkin carving party. Some of the pumpkins were pretty impressive. (mine not so much)
