Love Hurts
Wednesday, February 20th, 2008For Valentines Day my sweet husband gave me a dozen roses. As I was cutting the stems and preparing my arrangement I became slightly distracted on the 12th rose smelling the pizza just taken out of the oven. As Jason sat at the table he heard from me, “Oh shoot, please bring me a washcloth NOW.” So, I lopped a small amount off my thumb. Nothing stitch worthy. I did have to hold pressure for a lovely 15 minutes (which makes eating dinner tough). Oh well, what do they say, something about even roses have thorns. I guess just one more lesson that you have to take the good with the bad. Or, the lesson don’t let Rachel play with knives when pizza is involved. You decide.
How to save the Earth: lesson 1
Saturday, February 16th, 2008Lately, I have been thinking a lot about my carbon footprint. According to carbonfootprint.com
A Carbon Footprint is a measure of the impact human activities have on the environment in terms of the amount of green house gases produced, measured in units of carbon dioxide.
Basically, it means how much you are helping/hurting the Earth. There are many ways to decrease your carbon footprint such as decrease the amount of carbon dioxide you make or you can offset what you make by planting trees etc. You can calculate your carbon footprint at: http://www.carbonfootprint.com/calculator.aspx
One small way that I have begun reducing my footprint is that I started is recycling. I know, welcome to the 21st century Rachel. We learned reduce, reuse and recycle back in grade school. But the idea of paying to recycle and the effort it would take was enough to put it out of my mind. Then after reading a Rob Bell article that said that Christians should be looking after the Earth something struck a cord. I never really thought about being a good steward of the Earth and how that was honoring to God. So, I am taking baby steps to help save the Earth, or maybe make it just a little bit better from the poor mess we have made.
A small milestone: the first piece we have recycled.

Florida Vacation
Saturday, February 16th, 2008Over Superbowl weekend Jason and I went to Fort Myers to help celebrate Grandpa and Grandma Shore’s 60th wedding anniversary. The weather was beautiful, sunny and 80 everyday. We stayed with Jason’s family in a beautiful 4 bedroom house. It had its very own pool and lots of space to just hang out. Congratulations again to Grandpa and Grandma. May God continue to bless you and your marriage.
Congratulations Grandpa and Grandma

We especially enjoyed hanging out with our 22 mo. old nephew Jack. He did roll call regularly much to everyone’s delight. Here Aunt Angie is reading Jack a story.
Here are some more fun photos:
