Mouse Electric Chair

I’m afraid we have mice. They have probably been living in the attic all winter. I had an unspoken agreement with them that allowed them life as long as I never saw them and they didn’t eat my food. Well the pact was broken. I decided that we should deal with them humanely though. Jason concocted a mouse trap that involved a toilet paper tube with peanut butter at the end of a platform that was over a tall trashcan. Basically the mouse runs up the platforms, goes for the peanut butter and tips himself into the trash can. At that point Jason was going to release him back into the 20 degree wild down the street. Seems fair to me.

Well, about a week after he set the trap I saw that the mouse had knocked off the toilet paper tube to the floor and eaten the peanut butter while escaping capture. I also noticed that my lemon square on the kitchen counter had been tampered with. This means war mousy. The idea of finding a freshly squashed mouse in a spring trap has always grossed me out. Jason’s mom suggested the traps that the mouse goes in and never comes out and then you throw away. I agreed this was the best course of action.

Jason went to Lowes while I was at work and came home with some crazy ammunition. He bough these traps that have 2 metal plates and an electric charge. Basically, the mouse comes sniffing for a snack, connects the charge and then zap. He’s fried. Hard core, I know. But if the mice aren’t going to play fair, then neither are we. I’ll let you know how it goes.
