Bark Busters

Friday, February 6th, 2009

Much to Moses’ disliking we have decided to hire a dog trainer to come to the house and help us with his behavior. Truly, 98% of the time he is a great, laid back dog. Its just that 2% around our future kids that gets us worried. So we called Bark Busters and James Watson arrived on scene yesterday. He is like the super nanny for dogs … seriously. He opened our eyes to Moses manipulative behaviors and gave us ways to shift the alpha power back to ourselves. It was a long day, 4 hours. By the end I thought my eyes were going to pop out of my head.

I do want to tell you one story on how we realized that he thinks he totally doesn’t have to listen to me. James taught us how to do the “come” command and asked me to try it first. I stood up straight, said in a loud deep voice “Moses come”. And what does that booger do? He walked right  over to Jason, laid down and looked at me like “yeah right.”  I could have karate chopped him (which for the record I didn’t and don’t plan on – I don’t want to get PETA involved.) After some help from James, Moses was running to me by the end of the day on command.

Moses isn’t sure what hit him right now and why he has to follow all these rules all of a sudden. He’ll adjust, (we hope) We’ll keep you posted and let you know how it goes. We are optimistic that we will maintain the power shift from the coup.

Snow Day

I know all of you who live around here were hit hard last Wednesday like us. I’ve been a slacker lately and slow to post our pictures so I’m just now getting to it.  It was crazy … we probably had 12 inches. Which mix that with a gravel driveway that’s insanely long = bad back for Jason. Luckily our neighbors came to the rescue about an hour into the shoveling. With their help (and my supervision) we were able to knock it out in another hour. We were so thankful for their help.
