Vacation: Days 1-4

Saturday, February 24th, 2007

We totally enjoyed the first part of our vacation to Florida. We had fun adventures with Grandpa and Grandma Shore walking the beach and eating Wahoo Willie’s best grouper sandwich. We were privileged to play shuffle board with the Beache’s best and even got a few lessons. We dinned on the water and saw a boat. We chowed down at Sweet Tomatoes and hiked through the slough. We got to see where Angie works and admire the big banyan tree. We cheered at a Everblades game and ate pizza way too late at night. Overall we enjoyed the company and hospitality of our hostesses and hosts. It was lovely. Not to mention the weather was amazing as well. Thanks for a great time in Fort Myers !!

So I am helping my orientee grad RN admit her first patient to our nursing floor. The patient is in no way cooperative. The pt did not allow the ER to take any vitals and it took more than 5 people holding the pt down to draw labs. Mom warned us that the pt pinches, bites, throws things, hits and kicks. Translation = one tough dude. Anyway, as we are finishing all the paper work the new RN goes to get vitals. The pt allows her to get all of them except her oxygen saturation which requires a probe on the finger and to hold still. After about 2 mins of trying the pt gets very agitated and we stop. Things were going amazingly smooth and I was thinking that the ER was over reacting. I am hanging out on the other side of the room getting ready to take out the portable computer as I see a flying object race towards my head. And then bam, an explosion of formula pours over my head and down my scrubs. Its seems that the pt is fairly combative and decided to throw the bottle across the room at my face hard enough to break open and pour all over me. My hair was caked, clothes soaked and I smelled like nutren jr. However I was cracking up and glad that I still had all my teeth. Guess the ER wasn’t over reacting.

The Pope for Dummies

Saturday, January 6th, 2007

The Pope for DummysDear Amazon.com Customer,

We’ve noticed that customers who have expressed interest in Heart of the Artist, The by Rory Noland have also ordered John Paul II For Dummies (For Dummies (History, Biography & Politics)) by John Trigilio. For this reason, you might like to know that John Trigilio’s John Paul II For Dummies (For Dummies (History, Biography & Politics)) is now available.

I received this in a email not to long ago. I just found it funny the algorithm that they used to decide that I would want a book on the Pope for dummies. Makes me wonder how many people bought these books together? Maybe it is true that some people that bought the book “Heart of the Artist” and “Pope for Dummies” but it seems like a odd combination to me.
